CHA has submitted comments and recommendations to the California Emergency Management Agency on proposed regulations implementing AB 903 (Chapter 400, Statutes of 2007) regarding financial assistance for private not-for-profit entities that provide disaster assistance.
CHA recommends that the regulations expand reimbursement eligibility to include entities, such as hospitals, that provide life-sustaining activities during community disasters.
The proposed regulations focus on government-type not-for-profit entities. CHA recommends that the regulations be expanded to include reimbursement for medical resources, such as additional health care personnel and medical supplies, used to provide disaster assistance.
CHA also recommends that the regulations support emergency medical and health services to ensure community resilience and preservation of health care delivery in communities affected by a catastrophic event.
