This checklist and related appendices are designed to assist hospitals in the development, implementation and evaluation of exercises. Hospitals participate in a range of exercises including Dscussion-Based (such as tabletops), and Operations-Based (such as drills, functional and full-scale exercises.) It is the intent of this document to provide an overview, guidance and resources for hospitals which allows a more coordinated effort and can be tailored to the facility.

 

Updated Interim Recommendations for the Use of Antiviral Medications in the Treatment and Prevention of Influenza

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has reviewed and concurs with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Updated Interim Recommendations for the Use of Antiviral Medications in the Treatment and Prevention of Influenza for the 2009-2010 Season released on December 7, 2009. These recommendations focus on the use of antiviral medications for the treatment and chemoprophylaxis of influenza.

National Health Security Strategy

The RAND team, working closely with ASPR staff, and stakeholders – including many federal partners – completed the development of the National Health Security Strategy and Implementation Guide. Both were submitted to Congress at the end of 2009.

Though the development of these resources has concluded, this marks the beginning of what will be an extended process of improving our Nation’s ability to confront and mitigate the impact of myriad health threats. To access these resources, please visit the following:

The white paper addresses challenges and offers effective solutions for maintaining UL and CSA standards for “Green Dot” hospital grade electrical equipment while deploying ILC Dover Sentinel XTL PAPR in hospital settings.

Influenza Triage Algorithm for Adults with Influenza Like Illness

This algorithm is designed only to assist physicians and those under their supervision in identifying indicators of and responses to symptoms of flu-like illness (i.e. fever with cough or sore throat). It does not provide guidance for other medical advice. Like any printed material it may become out-of-date over time. This guidance is not intended for use by the general public and is not a substitute for sound clinical judgment. Individuals should alsways seek the advice of thier healthcare professional with with any questions they have regarding a medical condition. If you are concerned about your health or the health of someone in your care, call your doctor or the doctor of the person you are caring for.
