CDPH and EMSA are pleased to announce that the November 18, 2010 HAvBED drill was a tremendous success!

As a result of excellent participation by all, the HAvBED drill included timely response from 88 percent of California hospitals and 90 percent of HPP participating hospitals. All but one county submitted a report and in most counties, all hospitals reported.

California exceeded the mandated goal of 75 percent!

This success was due to the active support of all partners including California’s hospitals, the California Hospital Association, Local Health Departments, Local EMS Agencies, Local HPP Entities, Regional Disaster Medical Health Specialists (RDMHSs), Medical Health Operational Area Coordinators (MHOACs) and the HAvBED Advisory Workgroup.

CDPH and EMSA have announced that the June 8th HAvBED drill was a huge success. California hospitals exceeded the mandated response goal of 75 percent and vastly exceeded previous performance.

The drill resulted in timely responses from 89 percent of California hospitals and 96 percent of HPP participating hospitals. CDPH reported that most counties submitted reporting for all hospitals.

The announcement acknowledged that the success of the drill was due in large part to the active support of their partners: California’s hospitals, Local EMS Agencies, Local Health Departments, Local HPP Entities, Regional Disaster Medical Health Specialists (RDMHSs), Medical Health Operational Area Coordinators (MHOACs) the HAvBED Advisory Workgroup and the California Hospital Association.

Hospitals will soon receive direct communications from their local emergency medical services agency (LEMSA) or other designated local entity on the results of the drill.

Proposed HavBED updates - Rev 8.20.09

in

HHS/ASPR is working to improve its situational awareness of the health care system. A current proposal for updates to the HavBED system shows the existing elements, the proposed additions and the purpose of the information. Since system upgrades will be needed, they propose more changes than would be required for H1N1 (so all upgrades can be done at the same time). They will request only those data elements that are relevant to the event. In their existing system, 20 states provide them with individual hospital level data, some states provide aggregate data.
