Reminder: No-Cost PPE Available from the State
Requests must be made by June 15

As a reminder, please be aware that hospitals may request a one-time, 30-day supply of PPE from the state’s inventory. This 30-day supply is free and may be used for legislatively required stockpiles or in daily operations, but must be requested before the program ends June 15.

The types of PPE available are:

  • BYD procedure/surgical masks
  • BYD N95 masks
  • Face shields
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Goggles
  • Gowns
  • Nitrile gloves
  • Disinfecting wipes

Requests should be made to your Medical Health Operational Area Coordinator.

As a reminder, under two measures signed by the governor last year to address perceived shortcomings uncovered by the pandemic, hospitals are required to have a stockpile of PPE. Assembly Bill 2537 (Rodriguez, D-Pomona) requires all acute care hospitals to create and maintain a 90-day normal consumption supply of PPE beginning April 1, 2021, and Senate Bill 275 (Pan, D-Sacramento) requires, among other things, hospitals to maintain an even larger stockpile of PPE in the future (45-day surge consumption supply).
